about

It seems natural for a singer/songwriter with such an honest and personal style to be drawn to the songs of the iconic Blaze Foley. After seeing the "Duct Tape Messiah" documentary and concert in San Francisco in 2011, and reading Sybil Rosen’s book, “Living in the Woods in a Tree”, Kate Burkart was hooked. She listened to and treasured every Blaze recording she could get her hands on, and began covering his songs with her band.

Kate's version of “Moonlight” (also known as “The Moonlight Song”) evokes the dreamlike imagery of the time Blaze spent living in a tree house in the woods with Sybil, the woman he loved. Recorded simply, with just vocals and guitar, the haunting beauty of this song is laid bare.
